Health and Safety Manager – Food Production

Location: Newport, Gwent
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, negotiable

Our client, a large food production and distribution company, is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to play a critical role in managing the whole health and safety function. The successful candidate will identify, coordinate and drive improvements in safety across the group and to continuously improve the safety culture within the organisation.


Managing the health and safety function across the group
Pro-actively engaging in collaborative health and safety projects across all operational sites
Providing authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders.
Reviewing and auditing health and safety management and continuously improving the policies and procedures where appropriate
Providing strategies to plan and organise work systems to reduce health and safety risks and recommending suitable adaptations to plant, machinery and processes
Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for H&S statistics
Providing management information and statistics

Candidate Specification:

Qualified to NEBOSH diploma level
Significant H&S management experience
Educated to degree level
Chartered member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent
Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities and workload
Comfortable operating at all levels of the organisation
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Result orientated and tenacious
In depth understanding of all essential and relevant EU & UK health and safety legislation
The credibility and influencing skills and strategies to be able to make things happen
Demonstrate record of driving significant change through an operation
Commercial and business approach to health and safety matters
